Thanks for sharing, some of the books I will take a closer look at (hopefully I'll find them at the library...). Gosh, what did I read besides university litterature in 2011? Terrible to admitt but I can't remember! I better do some reading this year. I have two books with gathered stories which I found at the second-hand market, one by Shakespeare and the other by H.C Andersen. I have to read at least one of them during 2012! Both practicing my skills in english and learn to know some of the classic stories at the same time...

Shanti, this is the best book I read last year http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Lives-Authors-Robert-Schnakenberg/dp/1594742111
It was absolutely hilarious!

However from this, I am ordering one book from each of the authors to read. The best one (in my opinion) has been Old Goriot by Balzac. Absolutely delightful tale.

Next is Romeo & Juliet, we are going to Verona this year so cant wait to get stuck into it (once I have deciphered Shakesperean English) - :)

Happy reading xx

Love it...I love seeing what books others have read. I remember reading Hachet back in elementary school (80's). I'm intrigued by "White Teeth" and "The Devlin Diary". You may have already read it, but I recommend "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver. I don't care for her writing style in general, but I love the idea behind this book (it's a memoir).
Just an fyi, your link for Paper Back Swap is incorrect...I think it's misspelled. I use it, too. Just sent off 2 books and ordered 5, myself.

Yes! Although I haven't tried it yet. I currently have all the shampoos and conditioners the I own IN THE SHOWER to use up. Once they're gone, I will be making my own baking soda shampoo, vinegar conditioner, and honey conditioner (for frazzled hair ends only). I am so excited!!

It's all part of the learning process :) But remember... ALL of life is a learning process.

In regards to finding myself back at square one, yeah, that happens. It's OK though. This ties in with my next point so I will talk about that first...

I try to view the world in the gray area. Most people see only black and white, and so to make a change in their lives, it's either black or white; one thing or the other. Which makes it hard to do anything new, because in order to do it you have to JUMP IN and do EVERYTHING about that change in order to please yourself. However, this is not what life is. Life is not just black and white, but all the grays in-between. I try to see life in the gray area, and be OK with myself no matter what shade of gray I'm in right now. BABY STEPS! I may step away from white and become light gray in an area, but not yet black. This presents problems for people because it's hard to label me, but for me I'm ok with it because I know that everything I'm doing is a growing/learning experience and the gray area is part of becoming black!

If that was confusing, let me give some examples. Let's talk about veganism first. I want to be a vegan. I am NOT a vegan... no matter how much I want to label myself a vegan, it's not going to genuinely happen for some time. Right now, I eat many vegan meals, most days of the week... a gray area :) I wouldn't call myself a meat-eater (white) or a vegan (black) - I'm somewhere in the middle... trying to be black but still kinda white.

The same goes for living green, sustainable, etc.. I want to have a perfectly eco-friendly home! I want to own only non-toxic, natural things. However, after a life of not living that way, I can't just make the switch all overnight at once. First of all, that would be wasteful (throwing away household cleaners etc. that I still have plenty left to use up), but also, there is a learning curve involved in any major lifestyle change and so I need time to adjust and learn. So also with green living... I'm gray, not black nor white. I practice green living in some ways, and I still have the old habits too, in some ways.

I think the answer to your question comes from those explanations. Basically, never hold yourself to a godly standard and never let a setback be viewed as a failure. THERE ARE NO FAILURES, only learning opportunities. The only reason I'm every successful in anything is because I tried and failed many, MANY times... and learned each time until I could do it 100% right :)
