About Me

10 Aug 2010

I’m Shanti, a Leo in born 1985 and raised in Seattle wearing tye-dye and a peace sign :P After a lifetime of adventures in the Northwest, in 2009 I made the decision to move to Orange County, CA, just to live the the sun for a change!

In California, I met my boyfriend, Cory. After a year and a half together, we moved to Texas to homestead! It was a dream come true for both of us. Unfortunately, the land deal fell through in July, 2011. It was heartbreaking. Now. we are looking for land to buy and will hopefully do so by summer 2012. It’s going to work out — I know it will :)

I run a small book-publishing and continuing-education business for my mom, and spend most of my time  worrying about meeting my “completely insane Shanti-deadlines” that taunt me from the lines of my many to-do lists.

I have a long history of pouring myself into learning new things, enthusiastically employing all the stuff I learned in new projects, and then bailing when I’m done and finding a new thing to learn. It’s not that I have ADD – quite the opposite, really – it’s just that I learn quickly and am compelled by nearly everything :P (I’m an INTJ in every respect). As such, I have had a number of blogs over the years dedicated to different interests of mine, and with time I’ve come to see that that’s no longer the way for me to go about things. It is my hope that this blog can be the final resting place of all my various chronicles and musings.

I currently live in Huntsville, TX, with my boyfriend, Cory, and cat, Maddie. They are my favorite things :”>

My whole life I have wanted to live like a pioneer woman: braving the odds, using hand tools, gardening, building fences and raising chickens... Until that day, I'm blogging about my preparations for homesteading, and about all the colorful goings-on in my life :)
